|Tuxedoed gentlemen and ladies in eveningwear greeted students at Miller South School for the Visual and Performing Arts Feb. 10 as they arrived at school. The special event — complete with a pink carpet, in keeping with the school’s color scheme — helped celebrate the completion of a student-created tile mural titled ArtsWork that was installed at the entrance to the school.
Parent Dan Gunther is pictured at left at the entrance as he serves as doorman at the event.
Once students entered, students could see the mural for the first time and meet artist-in-residence George Woideck, who is shown at right bottom at left, with art teacher Malia Tschantz and Interim Principal Dawn Wilson, who served breakfast hors d’oeuvres.
The mural, shown at right top as Wilson meets students, was created by students in the visual art program at the school. Ceramic artist Woideck oversaw the project through arts organization Young Audiences of Northeast Ohio.
