Arts-Integrated Lesson Plan Contest 2010

---Deadline Extended to March 2, 2010--

Cash Prizes for Arts-Based Teaching!

Do you have a lesson plan that has inspired your students’ creativity? Have you used art in your classroom to engage your students? Then submit your best lesson plan in our contest and you could win a cash prize!

Eligible lesson plans must be arts-integrated. That means the lesson uses the arts to teach other subjects, such as history, science, language arts, or math. The lesson plan can incorporate any art form, such as dance, music, theater or visual arts. It can be of any length or any age group. Please include Ohio academic and fine arts standards that are addressed in the plan.

We will be looking for lesson plans that are creative, innovative and simple to implement. All lesson plans must be the original work of the author(s). Lesson plans will be judged by Young Audiences staff and volunteers.

Each entry must include:

1.  A cover page with:

--Your name and title

--Your school or organization’s name

--Your contact information (address, email, telephone)

2.  A lesson plan that has NO personal identifying information and includes the following:

--Lesson Plan Title

--Grade level

--Academic subject area

--Art form

--Brief summary of lesson

--Resources/materials needed

--Academic objectives (include Ohio state standards addressed here)

--Arts objectives (include Ohio state standards addressed here)

--Procedure (detailed step-by-step description of how to execute this lesson)

Although it is not required, entrants may also include a rubric to assess student learning and an explanation of how your lesson meets state standards.

The top winners will each receive a $100 cash prize. Winning lesson plans will be announced in April 2010 and published on our website as a community resource (see the link to the right on this page).
