A fun and informative “pen-to-the-page,” exercise-based workshop that is guaranteed to give students a new perspective on narrative. Plot structure, descriptive language and characterization are all distilled from a story or memoir students already know. Applicable for all levels of experience. You'll never again hear, “I don’t know what to write about!”
ARTIST DETAILS
Michael has been writing and performing poetry and fiction for over 25 years. He is the founder and director of the Nova Lizard Project, a performance art troupe and is the chief facilitator of the teen writing and performance program at Cleveland’s Playhouse Square Foundation. Salinger has taught workshops in colleges, high schools, and middle schools, and his energetic and creative approach has proven successful with teachers and students alike. He is the author of seven books, including "Outspoken! How to Improve Writing and Speaking Skills Through Poetry Performance" (Heinemann), and "Well Defined: Vocabulary in Rhyme" (Boyd's Mills Press) which won a place on the Voice of Youth Advocates' Nonfiction Honor List 2009. Michael has presented at conferences and worked closely with literacy and comprehension specialists Harvey Daniels, Ellin Oliver Keene. Stephanie Harvey and many other luminaries in the field.
