ArtWorks - Hired to Create, Inspired to Succeed
Application period has been extended to MONDAY JANUARY 9, at 4 PM
An application for the ArtWorks Afterschool program can be downloaded here.
ArtWorks Afterschool is an exciting new opportunity available for students who want to gain valuable 21st Century work skills through an apprenticeship in the arts. Working in a small group of about 10 apprentices, under the guidance of a professional master teaching artist, students will acquire valuable skills like time and project management, collaboration, professional communication, problem solving, and critical thinking, through the creation of their own original art. Additionally, apprentices will participate in workshops addressing money management, resume writing, and the college application and financial aid process. Apprentices are paid a stipend of $40 per week* for their work during the program, and have the opportunity to perform and exhibit their work for family, friends, and the community.
ArtWorks Afterschool is a commitment of two days per week (Mondays & Wednesdays OR Tuesdays & Thursdays, depending upon which arts discipline you are assigned), from 4:00PM to 7:00PM, January 30 through April 26 (program will be suspended April 9-13 for Spring Break). Some Saturdays and evenings may be required for special events or performances. The program will take place at the Halle Building (1212 Huron Road East, Cleveland) in downtown Cleveland. Participants are responsible for their own transportation to and from the program.
Spaces for this new opportunity are limited. Only 40 apprentice positions are available, so students who are interested in applying are strongly encouraged to make sure all parts of their application are complete and received on time.
Applications for ArtWorks Afterschool deadlines have been extended
and applications are now due no later than
4:00PM on Monday, January 9, 2012.

Students should be aware that application to the ArtWorks Afterschool program DOES NOT replace the application process for those interested in applying for the six-week summer ArtWorks program. Applications for the summer ArtWorks program will be available here starting in early January. Additionally, employment in the ArtWorks Afterschool program DOES NOT guarantee employment in the summer ArtWorks program.
* Within each 4-7 PM session, the apprentice is paid for 2.5 hrs of work. The initial half-hour is dedicated to homework assistance and a provided snack, and therefore unpaid. |
